Dr. Yongjin Zhou is a Chair Professor at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), CAS. His research areas include synthetic microbiology, yeast genetics and metabolic engineering. He co-authored more than 90 peer reviewed papers on prestigious journals such as Cell, Nature Energy, Nature Chemical Biology and Nature Metabolism. Microbial Synthetic Biology Laboratory (Zhou lab) focus on engineering microbial (yeast) cell factories for production of chemicals, biofuels and bioactive molecules by developing synthetic biology tools and metabolic engineering principles. We currently are engineering methylotrophic yeasts for production of bulk chemicals and high quality biofuels from methanol, and harnessing budding yeast S. cerevisiae for natural product biosynthesis from sugars. Our lab is consisted by more than 40 members and equipped with more than 20 highly used facilities. We currently are supported by more than 10 grants. Our research interests include:

1) Methanol biotransformation;

2) Development of synthetic biology tools;

3) Microbial synthesis of natural products.
