We recently published a review about current progress in engineering yeast cell factories for production of natural products ( Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology, 2020,5,179-186.) In this review, we summarized the advances on harnessing sub-organelle for isoprenoid biosynthesis in yeast, and analyzed the knowledge about the localization of enzymes, cofactors and metabolites for guiding the rewiring of the sub-organelle metabolism. This review may provide some insights for constructing efficient yeast cell factories for production of isoprenoids and even other natural products. (Text and Image by Xuan Cao)
